Cube Fundraiser February:: John.E.Vistic and friends!

HAPPENINGS AND KILLINGS PRESENTS....

The John E Vistic Experience

The first announced band to play Glastonbury 2010, and winners of the international Independent Music Award in the alt-country/rock category, JEVE fuse rockabilly, dirty blues and country with a rawness and energy unparallelled. Fronted by incomparable front man John E Vistic, they have a new album out this month, and are not to be missed in the confines of the cube. Pure hard blues, country and rock. Occasionally featuring a trombone.

Annette Berlin

After being featured on Tom Robinson's BBC6 Introducing show last year, as well as being awarded a Venue award for the Top Act of 2009, coming second only to Zun Zun Egui, Annette Berlin will be storming the stage at The Cube. Previously best known for key roles in the likes of Big Joan and Male, Annette Berlin's stepped out into solo land with a sound ridiculously fully formed, all R'n'B tight and PJ Harvey forceful.

Twocsinak

Signed to Wrong Music, and in their own words, "..the most prolific and intelligent artist on the Wrong music roster...", Twocsinak's songs combine a truly English sense of humour, concept heavy sampling agendas, wonderful vocal narratives and experimental musical arrangements. Long time collaborator with Anticons equally weird and wonderful SJ Esau.

Emily Breeze (DJ set)

Records spun in the bar by Emily Breeze, who blew the roof off the Fleece last month at the launch of her brilliant new album.

Malawi Education Project Music Auction

The Malawi Education Project will be holding a music themed ‘Silent Auction’ at The Croft on Wednesday 27th May to raise us some much needed funds. Everyone who comes will be given their own secret number, which they then use to bid on the prizes dotted around the venue. Keep an eye on the prizes you’re interested in, mind. Otherwise someone might out bid you, and if they have, out bid them back, and hard at it.

Some of the prizes on offer here are really rather special in our humble opinion… And do remember inside of your brain that many of them can be bought at a steal, and some are simply not available to buy anywhere else EVER, so please come down and bring as many of your friends as possible.

• Exclusive signed STUFF from Portishead.

• A signed Melvins poster.

• A customised Electro Harmonix ‘Big Muff Pi’ pedal. Only 100 ever made as an exclusive for Mogwai!

• Where it should say ‘Big Muff’ on the pedal, it says ‘Mogwai’. Also signed by the band. One love.

• Signed records from Julian Cope.

• A pair of tickets for the Secret Garden Party festival.

• An annual guest list for two to all Bedlam Drum n’ Bass nights for a year.

• A selection of albums for your pleasure from the boys at Qu Junktion.
